What is community solar?

Community solar programs allow all homeowners and renters to receive the savings benefit of solar energy. By subscribing to a community solar project, subscribers enable community solar providers like Solar Landscape to build and operate solar projects that add more clean energy to the local electricity grid. In return, subscribers receive solar credits on their electric utility bills that reduce what they owe, saving them money, Subscribers do not need to buy any special equipment or install any panels on their roof.

Is community solar a state-approved program?

Yes! This program is part of the New Jersey Community Solar Energy Program. To learn more, visit njcleanenergy.com/cs.

Do I need to own a home to participate?

No. Customers do not have to own a home to join a community solar program because there are no panels to install on your property. The program is available to both renters and homeowners in the following electric utility services:

  • Atlantic City Electric
  • Jersey Central Power & Light
  • Orange & Rockland Utilities
  • Public Service Electric & Gas

Do I need to install solar panels on my roof?

No! There is no need to buy any special equipment or install any panels on your roof.

How do I save money with community solar?

Just like a house with rooftop solar gets credit for the power generated by its solar panels, community solar subscribers get solar credits for the power generated by their share of a community solar project. With the support of state and federal renewable energy incentives, Solar Landscape provides this clean power at a discount and passes the savings on to subscribers. Your electric utility bills will include your discounted solar credits, which reduce what you owe on your electricity bill. The discount will be at least 15% and will never change.

Is there an income requirement?

No. Community solar is open to everyone and there is no income requirement to enroll. If you qualify as a low- to moderate-income subscriber, however, we may be able to prioritize your enrollment so you can begin receiving solar credits sooner.

Does my participation help the environment?

Absolutely!  By participating in community solar, you are helping to add new, clean sources of energy to the local electricity grid, and reducing the need for fossil fuel sources.

How does billing work with community solar?

New Jersey now offers consolidated billing for community solar. Your solar credits will be reflected on your electric utility bill which you will pay as you normally would. If you have any questions about your billing, you may call member services at 732-589-7529 or send an email to info@solarlandscape.com.

When will my bill reflect the community solar discount?

You will receive an email when your project is energized. Typically, it will take one to three billing cycles after your project is energized to begin receiving solar credits on your bill.

Are there any additional costs?

No. There are no upfront costs or fees to cancel.

Do I keep my current utility provider?

Yes. You continue to be a customer of your utility provider as you always have been. By subscribing to community solar, you have simply chosen to participate in a green energy project that is now being offered for your community.

Is the electricity provided to my home the same way it always has been?

Yes. Nothing changes.

Can I cancel my community solar subscription at any time?

Yes. You may cancel your subscription any time without charge by calling 732-589-7529.

If I move to a different address, will I be able to remain in the program?

We’ll do our best! Your community solar service can be moved to a new address as long as there is a Solar Landscape community solar project servicing your new community.

Does Solar Landscape perform a credit check to enroll?

No. There are no credit checks necessary to enroll in the program.
