Principal is a top ten global real estate investment manager with nearly $100b in AUM in real estate assets. With an in-house sustainability task force team, Principal is highly informed and dedicated to achieving their ESG goals.
CHALLENGE
Principal sought a way to best leverage its rooftop area to maximize shareholder value, achieve sustainability goals, and make a meaningful impact in the local community.
SOLUTION
Principal partnered with Solar Landscape to develop and install 17 community solar projects across five states. Solar Landscape owns and operates the arrays while Principal receives annual rental income for hosting the systems.
RESULT
Principal boosts their NOI and reduces local carbon emissions while enabling thousands of nearby residents to benefit from discounted solar energy. Their participation in community solar supports training for renewable energy careers through Solar Landscape's STEP-UP program (Solar Training and Education Partnership for Underserved Populations).
